Abhishek and Ayushi probably knew they were taking a huge risk when they heard photographer Sephi Bergerson‘s idea of shooting their entire wedding with nothing but his iPhone 6S Plus since this was something which hadn’t been done before. But the couple decided to take the risk and gave Sephi’s idea of wedding photography with iPhone a chance. The result at the end of it all was stunning.
So what took Bergerson so long to turn into reality his idea of wedding photography with iPhone? As he himself says, the problem was no one in India was ready to take the risk till he came across Abhishek and Ayushi and their plans for a big fat Indian wedding in the city of Udaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
But why iPhone? To this question Sephie had to say this:
What I like about the iPhone is it helps me get much closer to the subject and have eye contact. With DSLR, the camera comes between me and the subject. The iPhone won’t replace the DSLR but it offers a completely new medium of photography.
Now that’s really saying something about the iPhone. Apple would be happy to hear this. But there were problems. This whole wedding photography with iPhone concept did not go as smoothly as Sephie may have anticipated at first and he admits them himself. For instance, he had a difficult time shooting with the iPhone 6S Plus given the low lighting condition usually attached with Indian weddings and the problem was compounded even further by the ISO limit of the phone. Results were motion blur in many of the photos. He countered this problem by using a hand-held LED light to light up the scene. During daytime he faced no such problems for obvious reasons.
Below are some of the wedding photography with iPhone shots that Sephie was successful in taking. Enjoy!
