It was slated to be launched this month, but due to high demand Nikon was forced to postpone the launch. Yes we are talking about Nikon’s brand new DX flagship DSLR the D500 here. When the camera was unveiled a few months back along with the FX format flagship D5, it created quite a buzz in the photographic circles all around and made NIkon’s competitors sit up and take notice. But a few hopes got dashed when the launch of the Nikon D500 got delayed. Although we don’t yet know the actual launch date of the camera, we can tell you that it’s going to be towards the end of this month.
The Nikon D500 with all its neat tricks and features promises to be a gamechanger in this segment. Let’s just briefly recap the features of the D500 for you guys. The camera comes with a 20.9 CMOS sensor along with Nikon’s EXPEED 5 image processing unit. Apart from that it has 153 autofocus points of which 99 are cross types. This means the Nikon D500 will be well capable of tracking fast moving objects. At 10 frames per second, the burst rate of the D500 is also quite impressive.
But the biggest talking point for the D500, when it was first unveiled, was its ISO range. The camera can shoot at an impressive 1640000 ISO, which is way higher than its potential competitor like the Canon 7D Mark II, When it comes to video, the D500 can shoot K 3840 x 2160 UHD footage at 30/25/24 fps. Below is a video shot with the D500.
But all this feature won’t come cheap. The D500 is going to be Nikon’s costliest DX format DSLR till date at around 2000 USD for the body alone. So you need to have a deep pocket if you are planning to have one.
