Talk about going crazy with zoom. Nikon seems to be planning a 125x super zoom point and shoot camera to replace the existing Nikon Coolpix P900. A recent camera registration document points towards this fact. The current P900 has a zoom range of 83x, which is very long to say the least. But taking it to 125x is like giving the photographer a reach which he/she would barely need.
Let’s see it this way. 125x means a maximum focal length of 3000mm. I mean how many photographers do you know who uses a 3000mm lens? None I Guess. But of course, a bit of reach doesn’t hurt. We would love to have a lens with such reach which we can also afford to buy. For now point-and-shooters can rejoice and wait for this zoom monster to come out.

Given the response Nikon Coolpix P900 received, we are pretty sure that its successor will also garner a good volume of sales when it gets launched.
