The GoPro Karma drone fitted with the GoPro Hero5 is back on sale and is available for pre-order on sites like B&H (See pre-order links below). The Karma drones were withdrawn from market last December after a few crashes. In January this year, GoPro had announced that in February it would give ‘details’ about the Karma’s return and now the company has relaunched the drone fitted with the Hero5. Shipping will begin by end of March.
For now, the Karma would be available with select online retailers including GoPro’s online stores in the US. International customers would have to wait a little more till spring to pre-order on of these babies.
Since its recall, GoPro had carried out hundreds of hours of flight tests and fixed the problem it earlier had with its battery clasp mechanism.
“A redesigned battery latch has been incorporated into the updated Karma drone to solve the issue.”
When the Karma was recalled, GoPro offered free $399 Hero5 cameras to customers who had bought the drone and also began selling the Karma grip as an accessory for $299 in January. For those who bought the grip, but would like to add the Karma drone to their portfolio, GoPro said it would now offer that for $599.
