As photographers we just cannot imagine our lives without the good old tripod. It’s like the second best friend we have after our camera. But is something in the making that could make this three-legged friend obsolete soon? It Could well be. Edelkrone has come out with something called StandPLUS, which at first glance looks to be much easier to use and carry around than a conventional tripod. Let’s admit it, howsoever we may like our tripods, it is difficult to use and at times can be a little difficult to carry around in certain places. The Edelkrone StandPLUS offers an alternative to that.
So what does the Edelkrone StandPLUS has to offer in comparison to the tripod? Let’s compare the two for a bit. If you’re using a tripod you have to unfold and lock each leg individually and even in its folded state, a tripod can be a bulky equipment to carry around. In comparison, as we can see in the video below, unfolding and setting up the Edelkrone StandPLUS seems a lot easier and takes far less time. The StandPLUS has piano pedal like foot stand to hold it in place and provide stability while shooting. While fully folded up, the StandPLUS measures at just 20-inches. But we are not passing any judgement on the product. A lot many people has to use it to see if it actually offers what it promises and if it can seriously match up or surpass the tripod in its own game. But at first view things look promising.
The StandPLUS will be launched in the northern hemisphere this summer and only then price of the product will be made public. In the meantime, have a look at the demo video below to know about the usability of the product.
